Mumbai Rain Updates: 4 Deaths Reported After Heavy Downpour Brings City to a Halt

Mumbai has been severely impacted by torrential rains on Wednesday, leading to the tragic deaths of four individuals in rain-related incidents. Among the casualties, a 45-year-old woman drowned in an open drain in Andheri, highlighting the dangers posed by extensive waterlogging in the area.

In light of the severe weather conditions, Mumbai police are urging residents to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel to ensure their safety. As the city grapples with the aftermath of the downpour, authorities are working to manage the situation and prevent further tragedies.

Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis asked citizens to not step out unless necessary as Mumbai,Thane, Pune, Palghar and other adjoining districts deal with intense rainfall since Wednesday.

In a post on X, he said,"Please stay safe everyone and don’t step out if not necessary. All local, state, central govt agencies are working hard and closely coordinating to mitigate the situation. Keep following the alerts and messages from respective agencies / departments." The extremely heavy rainfall in Mumbai has led the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to announce a holiday for all schools and colleges on Thursday.
