In a major breakthrough, the Rafi Ahmed Kidwai (RAK) Marg Police have successfully arrested an accused involved in a burglary case after 20 years. The accused had been absconding since 2005 after failing to appear before the court, leading to the issuance of a non-bailable warrant against him. A special police team tracked him down in Uttar Pradesh and brought him back to Mumbai.
The arrested accused has been identified as Habibul Bholu Imam Baksh Sheikh alias Bhullu. He was residing in the Sewree area in 2003 when the RAK Marg Police arrested him in connection with a housebreaking case. A case was registered against him under Sections 457, 380, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). After securing bail, he stopped attending court hearings from 2005 onwards. Taking serious note of his absence, the court issued a non-bailable warrant and declared him a fugitive. Since then, he had been evading the police.
Recently, Mumbai Police launched a special drive to nab absconding criminals, particularly those wanted in old cases. Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Ragasudha R., a special team was formed, including Women Police Sub-Inspector Pallavi Jadhav and other officers. The team initiated a search operation for the accused, but no concrete information about his whereabouts was available. It was also confirmed that he was no longer residing in Mumbai.
Through informants, the police learned that Bhullu was residing in Baberu Taluka of Banda district, Uttar Pradesh. Acting on this lead, a police team was dispatched to Uttar Pradesh. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the accused was hiding in the Hardoli area. With the assistance of the local police, the RAK Marg Police successfully arrested Bhullu from Hardoli.
The accused was then brought back to Mumbai and produced before the court.
