Mumbai Records Second-Highest February Day Temperature in 8 Years, Likely to Drop Over Weekend
Mumbai on Wednesday recorded its second-highest maximum day temperature for February in the last eight years, a day after recording record-breaking temperature on Tuesday. According to the Santacruze observatory of India Meteorology Department’s (IMD), on February 26, a day temperature was reported of 38.5 degrees Celsius, which was 5.7 degrees Celsius above normal levels.
The IMD's Colaba coastal observatory recorded a day temperature of 35.3 degrees Celsius, which was 4.3 degrees above normal. The weather department has already issued a yellow alert and warned of severe heatwave conditions in the city on February 25 and 26. However, weather experts suggested that the heat wave conditions will not continue for now, but hot and humid weather will continue.

The temperature is likely to drop during the weekend by one or two degrees Celsius, but humid conditions may continue. The city is witnessing higher-than-normal temperatures due to strong Easterlies, which delay the breeze settling over the sea by a few hours.
