The Vakola police have successfully solved the case of a senior citizen’s kidnapping, arresting three accused from Kandivali and Ram Mandir areas while safely rescuing the victim. The victim, a prominent businessman dealing in textiles, frequently travels between Kutch and Mumbai. On February 20, after arriving in Mumbai, he was lured by an acquaintance and kidnapped with the help of two accomplices. The accused then demanded a ransom of ₹25 lakh from his son. Upon receiving the complaint, the Vakola police launched an investigation, identified the culprits through CCTV footage, and arrested them.
According to the Vakola police, a special team led by the senior inspector carried out the operation. The accused were found in an office in the Ram Mandir area, where the victim was held captive. The arrested individuals have been identified as Radheshyam Mewalal Soni (30), Satish Nandlal Yadav (33), and Dharmendra Rampati Ravidas (40). The police traced the victim’s last known location to Santacruz, which led to further investigation using CCTV footage.
During the probe, it was revealed that Radheshyam, who was known to the victim, was aware of his financial status, having previously visited his hometown and gathered information about his wealth. He invited the businessman for a discussion related to his trade and took him to an office near Ram Mandir station. Once there, the accused switched off the victim’s phone and, with the help of two others, kidnapped him. They then demanded ₹25 lakh from his son, threatening to kill the victim if the police were informed.
The victim was held captive in an office originally set up for stock market operations. The front section functioned as an office, while the rear was used to detain the businessman. Police first arrested Radheshyam from the Lalaji Pada area of Kandivali, which led them to the remaining accused. The victim was safely rescued, and all three kidnappers were taken into custody.
The police are conducting further investigations into the case.
