Mumbai Shocker: Man Dies Due to Lack of Emergency Care at Hospital in Govandi, Family Seeks Justice
Mumbai: While the incident of a woman dying at Deenanath Hospital in Pune due to lack of money to pay the deposit and not receiving timely treatment is fresh, another shocking incident has come to light in which a patient lost his life due to the inconveniences at Shatabdi, a Mumbai Municipal Corporation hospital run on taxpayers' money. The deceased patient has been identified as Avinash Shirgaonkar (45). As per the reports Avinash Shirgaonkar, a resident of Chembur-Ghatla, started having trouble urinating on Monday (April 7) evening. Due to this, his brother Arun took Avinash to Shatabdi Hospital in Govandi. However, since the surgeon was not present at hospital. After a delay of two hours, Avinash was given this advice by hospital administration to go to Sion Hospital. Due to this, his health deteriorated further.
Since he could not urinate, his stomach was full. Avinash was taken to Sion Hospital in the same condition. However, since there was no stretcher available there, he had to climb a few floors on foot. When he went to the relevant department, Avinash was told that he would have to wait for some time as no doctor was present. A long time passed there too. Finally, Avinash breathed his last in the hospital.

... If only his life had been saved!
Govandi Shatabdi Hospital has been facing inconvenience for the past several months. If Shatabdi Hospital had been equipped and expert doctors had been available there on time, we would not have had to go to Govandi and Sion. Arun Shirgaonkar expressed his regret that time was wasted in all this process and his brother's life was at stake. There are not enough doctors and other staff.
A new super specialty building of this hospital is being built, but it is not operational. We have protested many times, complained to the hospital administration, and gone on hunger strikes, but the administration of the hospital has not improved. Shirgaonkar died due to these inconveniences, alleged social activist Rajendra Nagrale.
