The Mumbai Traffic Police issued challans to 17,495 motorists for violating various traffic rules during special operations on March 13 and 14 to curb traffic violations during Holi and Holika Dahan. Violations included drunk driving, speeding, not wearing helmets, and overloading.

183 drivers were booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 4,949 were found riding their vehicles without helmets, according to the data released by the Mumbai traffic department on Saturday.

According to The Indian Express, around 4,654 challans were issued for parking vehicles obstructing the flow of traffic, and 1,942 were penalised for jumping signals. Another 992 were booked for entering one-way roads, while 46 motorists were fined for honking.
