The South Region Cyber Police have busted a gang that defrauded citizens by luring them with part-time job offers and have arrested two accused from Nashik. The names of the accused are Himanshu More (21) and Prem Shewale (18). The police have seized 29 debit cards, 28 account passbooks, 8 SIM cards from various companies, and 8 phones from the accused.

A police officer stated that the mastermind of this gang is in Dubai and is operating it from there.

The accused defrauded a female complainant residing in Colaba of ₹14.23 lakhs between February 28 and March 1. Based on the complaint filed by the woman, the South Region Cyber Police registered a case on May 2 and started an investigation. The accused had asked the female complainant to deposit money into different bank accounts.

During the investigation based on a Federal Bank account, it was found that the account holder worked as a waiter in a hotel in Nashik and had given his account to a young man in Nashik. Upon further investigation by the police, it was discovered that the accused had opened around 60 accounts using the names of individuals working in various hotels in and around Nashik.

The investigation revealed that the accounts were being used to buy US dollars and send foreign currency to the accused. Ultimately, the police arrested More and Shewale and began further investigation of the crime.
