IIT Mumbai will play a key role in boosting research at the University of Mumbai. The University of Mumbai has been included in the ‘Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research’ initiative launched by the ‘Anusandhan National Research Foundation’ (ANRF) under the NEP. For this, IIT Mumbai has been selected among the seven selected ‘hub’ institutions across the country, and the University of Mumbai has been included among the ‘spoke’ institutions affiliated to this institution. With this, the University of Mumbai will enter a new era of research and innovation, and new avenues of research in many entrepreneurial areas will be opened.
With this partnership, the University of Mumbai will be able to benefit from the knowledge and experience of a high-level institution like IIT Mumbai and the faculty and researchers of the university will be able to develop knowledge and skills. The faculty and researchers will have the opportunity to conduct research with experts from IIT in promising areas such as ‘Industry 4.0’, ‘Advanced Materials’, and ‘Green Energy and Sustainability’. The Centre will provide a fund of Rs 100 crore for the next five years for this network. The project will be led by Prof. Farooq Kazi, Director of the University of Mumbai's Research Development Cell as the Principal Investigator. While Prof. V. M. Gadre will lead the project from IIT Mumbai. Mumbai University and seven other institutions have been selected as 'spoke' in the 'hub' of IIT Mumbai. This grant will give the university an opportunity to make a mark in emerging and advanced areas such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, semiconductor technology and nanotechnology, said Prof. Farooq Kazi, Director of the University's Research Development Cell.
What exactly will be the benefit?
