Mumbai– A major leakage in an 1800mm diameter water pipeline supplying Mulund West’s T Ward has disrupted water supply in several areas, including Amar Nagar, Khindipada, Malabar Hill Road, Swapnanagari, Ghatipada, B.R. Road, and surrounding localities.
The leakage, detected near the Tansa pipeline in Bhandup West on Saturday afternoon, prompted the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to launch emergency repair work. Officials estimate that repairs will take at least 10 to 12 hours, during which the water supply will remain completely halted.
Urgent Repairs Underway
According to the BMC’s Water Supply Department, the pipeline suffered significant damage, necessitating immediate action. Senior civic officials confirmed that the Assistant Engineer (Water Works), Maintenance East Suburbs, Ghatkopar is overseeing the repair efforts, which are being carried out on a war footing. Water supply will resume once the repairs are completed and the system is stabilized.
