Mumbai Weather Update: IMD Issues Heatwave Warning as Temprature Soars To Degree Celsius

Mumbai witnesses mild winter every year during February, but this year, the temperature is soaring, and the winter season ended early. This year, Mumbai’s temperature rose to 37 degrees in February. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and its surrounding areas.

In February this year, the Mercury climbed nearly 5 Degrees Celsius above the normal level. The experts have cited several reasons behind this unusual weather change. 

1. Relief normally comes from cooling sea winds, but these have been slow to come.
2. Temperatures are rising due to hot breezes from the Mediterranean and Middle East, both of which are desert regions.
3. By keeping hot air from rising, this weather phenomenon traps it, causing additional warming.

In 1966, the highest recorded February temperature in Mumbai was 39.6 degrees Celsius. Even if the heatwave this year hasn't surpassed that record, it's still a remarkable meteorological phenomenon for the season.

As the heat soars, it is advisable to reduce outdoor activities and stay hydrated.
