Mumbai Weather Update: No Heatwave Expected, but Hot and Humid Conditions To Persist

Mumbai is a city known for its summer season. Every year the temperature reaches 40 to 45 degrees during summers here. For the past three days, Mumbai crossed 37 degrees Celsius in a row and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said that there won’t be any heatwave this year, reported The Indian Express.

The IMD's Santacruz observatory reported a maximum temperature of 37.2 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday, 5.2 degrees higher than the average. The highest temperature recorded in the city on Friday was 37.3 degrees Celsius. Mumbai's daytime high during the last three days exceeded the usual maximum temperature of 31.3 degrees Celsius for February.

Sushma Nair, a Scientist at IMD, Mumbai, told The Indian Express that Mumbai's temperatures will remain hot and humid, and as of right now, there is no heatwave warning in place. The strong easterly presence, which is postponing the establishment of a sea wind, has caused the temperature to rise. This will continue for a minimum of three more days.
