Satara: Nine children sustain burns as generator catches fire during Durga idol immersion procession
Tragedy struck a Dussehra procession in Maharashtra's Satara district as a generator fire left nine children with burn injuries. The incident unfolded during the procession in the Koli Aali area of Mahabaleshwar, a renowned hill station.
The generator, mounted on a vehicle transporting an idol of Goddess Durga for immersion, overheated and caught fire due to the presence of a nearby petrol can. The nine children, seated in a section of the decorated vehicle, suffered burns in the mishap. Promptly, they were rushed to hospitals in Satara and Pune for necessary medical care.
Superintendent of Police Sameer Shaikh reassured that all the children are now in stable condition and are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals.
