Two Men Arrested for Defamatory Posts Against Maharashtra Women's Commission Chairperson
South Region Cyber Police have arrested two men for allegedly posting objectionable, obscene, and defamatory content on social media against Rupali Chakankar, Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission.
The offensive posts were repeatedly shared on the Facebook page “Rajkaran Maharashtraache” targeting Chakankar. Following this, the Women’s Commission filed a complaint with the police.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 78, 79, 351(3), 351(4), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 67A of the Information Technology Act. The arrested individuals have been identified as Akash Digambar Dalve (30), a resident of Yawale in Mohol Taluka, Solapur district, and Avinash Bapu Pukale (30), from Pare Kokarewadi in Sangola Taluka, Solapur district. Dalve was arrested from Mohol, while Pukale was taken into custody from Uruli Kanchan in Pune district.
Both accused will be produced before the 18th Metropolitan Court in Girgaon today. Earlier, nine others were detained for questioning in connection with the case. Further investigation is ongoing.
