Wadala Road Revamp: BMC and Police Clear 600 Vehicles, Ending Decade-Long Traffic Nightmare

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) collaborated with the Antop Hill Traffic Police and cleared the Wadala road after a decade. The authorities removed 600 vehicles, many of which were illegally parked near Dosti Acres or abandoned by the owners.

These vehicles were parked there for more than 10 years. They were occupying a lot of space and were causing huge traffic bottlenecks in the area.

During this drive, 150 two-wheelers were also fined for breaking traffic laws. The authorities also cleared encroachments at the footpath.

The route from Shaikh Misri Shah Dargah (SMD) Chowk to Acharya Atre Nagar Monorail Station was inspected by the authorities, as this area was facing many traffic issues due to the illegal parking of cars and two-wheelers, unauthorised shops, and hawker movements.

Problems on this road increased as the road was made a one-way route due to the construction of Mono Rail Phase 2. More than 500 vehicles like taxis, bikes, and lorries were illegally parked on this route, which added more problems for the commuters.
