Aid to be given to needy city coaches: Joshi

A virtual meeting of city coaches was organised on Monday at 5 p.m to address their concerns in the Corona pandemic.

Former mayor and chief convener of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav Sandip Joshi presided over the meeting. He said the state government has decided to give compensation to auto rickshaw drivers, bus drivers, construction workers etc but at the same time the government has ignored coaches. Number of coaches have succumbed to covid and as a result their families have become hepless.

Joshi said the needy coaches will get an aid in the form of food grains. The list of such coaches will be prepared within three to four days for further action. Joshi also said he was ready to adopt the families of such coaches who have lost their lives due to Covid. Arjuna and Dronacharya awardee Vijay Minishwar pointed out that all coaches and sports teachers should be vaccinated as early as possible. To this Joshi said he will talk to mayor and municipal commissioner.

Joshi also said in this regard a committee will be formed and a memorandum will be given to Maharashtra sports minister Sunil Kedar. Dr Padmakar Charmode conducted the proceedings while NMC sports officer Piyush Ambulkar proposed a vote of thanks.
