The Smart City project has helped in controlling crime as 3600 CCTV cameras have been installed in Nagpur. Many criminals were caught with the help of footage from these cameras. In the future too, crime will be curbed by making more use of this technology, said Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar on Monday.

Amitesh Kumar reviewed the work of Nagpur Safe and Smart City project being implemented by Nagpur Smart and Sustainable Development Corporation Limited in the Smart City Conference Hall in the NMC building. The meeting was organized on behalf of the e-Governance Department.

Additional commissioners of Police Sunil Fulari, Dilip Jhalke, N.D. Reddy, deputy commissioners of police Vikram Sali, Vivek Masal, Rahul Makanikar, Gajanan Rajmane, Shweta Khedkar, NMC executive engineer Ajay Mankar, transport engineer Shakeel Niyaji and Smart City chief executive officer Mahesh Morone were present.

After the meeting, Amitesh Kumar and other officials inspected the Atal Bihari Vajpayee City Operations Centre. GMD of Smart City e-Governance Sheel Ghule informed them about the City Operations Center. Sameer Sharma of A&Y, Ajay Ramteke of L&T, Ashish Bhagat, etc. were present. Amitesh Kumar was initially welcomed by Bhanupriya Thakur, Company Secretary, Smart City.

Vehicular traffic needs

to be streamlined

There is an urgent need to streamline vehicular traffic through CCTV. This requires the joint efforts of the Traffic Police Department and Nagpur Smart City. He directed the traffic police to create awareness through V.A.M.S. He also reviewed the work of the Central Command and Control Centre near the Police Control Room. He directed the concerned to complete the work by November.
