City parts in dark due to heavy rains

Nagpur, May 18

Due to strong winds accompanied by rains on Tuesday evening, the electricity supply in many parts of the city was disrupted for a quite a long time.

Butibori area was also in the dark for long, as tree fell on power lines. As strong winds blew in Butibori towards evening, two trees fell on the power line near SKG and on main road. Many electric poles bent and some fell. The power supply could be restored only after the tree was removed with the help of a crane.

During this period, the yarn feeder was completely stalled. Electricity was lost for about 4,000 consumers. As the two electric of Bella feeder bent, the electricity in the area was not available for a long time. Mahavitaran was assessing the structural damage till late in the night. Changing weather in the city also affected the electricity supply. Electricity was not available in Vanjari Nagar, Rambagh and Jattarodi, as tree fell on Rambagh feeder. Similarly, the Wadi area was also out of electricity for a long time. Along with Hingna and Nara, the electricity supply in some areas of the Gandhibag division was also affected. As the humidity increased due to rains, people had to face lot of issues.

Death of a worker

A contract worker engaged in fixing breakdown died near DPS School, Mihan. The deceased labourer has been identified as Prashant K Bhalavi (45). According to the information received, there was a technical issue in the 11 KV Mihan 3 feeder on Tuesday. There was no electricity in adjoining areas. To rectify the issue, Prashant had climbed an electricity pole at around 12 noon and the accident happened. Post Mortem of the body will be done on Wednesday after the RT-PCR test. Mahavitaran has shared information of the accident with the electrical inspector.
