The Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) will have to shell out around `50 crores to conduct full online examinations as per the directives of the State government. In that case, university will have no option, but to increase fees.

The reason behind such exorbitant expenses are that the RTMNU and all the colleges does not have the computer based online examination infrastructure which is needed to conduct examinations online. Hence the responsibility of conducting online examinations will have to be out sourced. According to sources, if the examinations are out sourced, then RTMNU will have to incur expenses of `500-700 per student, as well as other related expenses. According to experts, NU can still take online examinations, but it will not be possible to conduct examinations in rural area, as most of the colleges lack modern computer infrastructure.

The NU examination department has been preparing to conduct online examination through mobile App, but experts believe that it is difficult to conduct MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) on mobile. The students may face lot of issues while giving examination through mobile App.

RTMNU to go against govt order!

Even though the Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant has directed universities to conduct online examinations, RTMNU may go against it. RTMNU may conduct online as well as offline examination, according to the experts from the academic council. It was decided to conduct online and offline examinations. Confirming the development, pro vice chancellor Dr Sanjay Dudhe said that RTMNU will conduct both online as well as offline examination, and and a proposal in this regard was passed during the academic council meeting on Tuesday.
