Amarnath Yatra 2025: Chaos at Sharanpur Road Bank as Devotees Struggle with Server Glitch, Limited Quota
The registration process for the Amarnath Yatra 2025 at the Jammu and Kashmir Bank on Sharanpur Road turned chaotic once again on Wednesday (April 16), the second day in a row. Despite arriving early, hundreds of devotees failed to complete their registration, leading to frustration and anger among the crowd.
On the first day of registration, Tuesday (April 15), nearly 500 to 600 devotees had gathered outside the bank from as early as 5 am. However, a server outage for two hours and a limited registration quota of just 150 people led to confusion and delays. Many devotees, who were turned away on the first day, returned on Wednesday hoping to get registered.
But the situation remained the same. By 4 pm on Wednesday, only about 100 devotees were successfully registered, while nearly 500 people were seen waiting inside the bank premises and along the road outside. The long wait under the scorching sun left many exhausted and frustrated.
In an attempt to control the chaos, bank officials called in the police. The police arrived and persuaded the crowd to form queues, helping restore some order. Meanwhile, the bank had made a minor improvement by setting up a temporary pavilion outside to provide shade to waiting devotees.
Despite these efforts, the situation remained tense. Many devotees expressed disappointment over the mismanagement and hoped the administration would increase registration capacity and improve technical systems to handle the crowd more efficiently in the coming days.
