Nashik, Maharashtra (April 12, 2025): A swarm of bees attacked a group of devotees at the Hanuman temple on Anjaneri Hill in Nashik on Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 8 a.m., leaving at least eight to ten devotees injured.
According to local sources, the attack was triggered by the sound of a conch shell blown by a devotee while climbing the temple steps. The sound startled nearby monkeys, which ran through the area and reportedly disturbed beehives on the surrounding trees.
The bees then swarmed and attacked the devotees gathered at the temple for Hanuman Jayanti. Panic spread among the crowd as people attempted to escape the sudden assault. Some devotees ran to nearby shelters on the hill to protect themselves.
Emergency services responded promptly. The injured were brought down from the hill and given first aid at the primary health centre in Anjaneri. A married couple is reported to be seriously injured in the incident.
The temple, located along the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar road, saw a large turnout of pilgrims for the festival. Authorities have urged visitors to exercise caution during such gatherings in sensitive natural areas.
