The Nashik District Petro Dealers Association has issued a strong warning to Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL), demanding an uninterrupted supply of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for at least 10 hours daily by April 25. If their demand is not met, all private CNG pumps in the city will be shut from April 26.
Currently, MNGL is supplying CNG for only 2 to 3 hours a day, and in some cases, the supply is available only on alternate days. This has created chaos and long queues at CNG stations, especially in the scorching heat. Tempers are running high as disputes between pump staff and frustrated customers are becoming frequent.
“There’s already a shortage of CNG across Nashik. If that is the case, how are MNGL’s own three pumps operating without any issues?” questioned Vijay Thakar, President of the Petro Dealers Association. He alleged that MNGL is deliberately supplying more gas to its own outlets to divert customers and damage the reputation of other dealers.
The dealers claim that this biased and irregular supply is affecting common citizens and auto drivers, who are forced to wait in long lines or leave without fuel. “If MNGL doesn't ensure 10 hours of daily CNG supply to all pumps by April 25, we will be left with no choice but to close all private pumps as a mark of protest,” said Thakar.
MNGL officials were contacted regarding the issue but did not respond.
As the deadline nears, the city waits for a resolution to avoid further inconvenience to thousands of CNG vehicle users.
