Nashik: Fire Engulfs MSRTC Workshop on Peth Road; 11 Vehicles Destroyed in Blaze

The fire season continues to trouble Nashik as yet another incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at the State Transport (ST) Workshop on Peth Road. A sudden fire broke out in the workshop premises, damaging 11 vehicles, including nine rickshaws, one Swift Dzire, and a Tempo Traveller.

The workshop is used to store old buses and seized vehicles collected by the Regional Transport Department (RTO). The fire started around noon and spread quickly due to the flammable materials like seat cushions and covers of the rickshaws. Thankfully, employees at the site noticed the flames early and managed to move several vehicles to safety before it worsened.

The Nashik Fire Brigade responded swiftly with two fire tenders, reaching the spot within minutes. After nearly 30 minutes of intense firefighting, the fire was brought under control, preventing a major disaster. Over 100 buses and hundreds of other vehicles are parked in this area, and timely action helped save many of them.

Initial reports suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit, although official confirmation is awaited.

This is the third major fire in the city in the last four days. On Thursday night, a fire broke out at a plywood warehouse in Tapovan, and on Friday night, a furniture mall on Sambhajinagar Road was engulfed in flames. Both incidents took several hours to bring under control.

Personnel from Panchavati Fire Station and K. K. Wagh Center, including Sandeep Kanade, Santosh Mendre, Manohar Gaikwad, Vijay Shinde, Vijay Patil, Yash Bhagwat, Shantanu Kalmekh, and Sanket Junnare, were part of the team that doused the Peth Road fire.

The fire department has urged citizens and property owners to stay alert and ensure proper electrical safety measures, especially as temperatures rise and fire risks increase during the summer months.
