A gang attempted to shoot at the chairman of the Mahatma Gandhi Tantamukt Samiti in Govardhan village, taluka. Kishore Piraji Jadhav (52), a resident of Rajwada, narrowly escaped harm on Saturday (22nd) around 9:30 pm. According to eyewitnesses, disaster was averted when Jadhav deflected the pistol held by the assailant, causing the bullet to discharge harmlessly into the air.
The attack on Jadhav was reportedly in retaliation for his filing a police complaint. Following Jadhav's complaint, the Taluka Police Station has registered a case of attempted murder against the alleged perpetrators: Roshan Dilip Jadhav, Tushar Vitthal Kapse, Gaurav alias Bala Jayram Made, Rahul Dilip Jadhav, Ajay Manoj Kapse (all residents of Govardhan), and three others. The incident occurred around 9 pm near Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in Govardhan village, drawing a crowd of onlookers to the scene.
Witnesses recounted tense moments during the altercation:
- "You sent people to file complaints against us at the police station... What? Stop, now I will kill you," Roshan reportedly threatened before attempting to fire the pistol.
- Acting swiftly, Kishore Jadhav intervened, causing the pistol to misfire harmlessly into the air.
The suspects, armed with swords, pistols, and sticks, confronted Jadhav over a prior dispute that occurred on February 21. Roshan, brandishing a local pistol, aimed it at Jadhav but failed to inflict harm due to the intervention.
A case has been registered against 11 individuals under Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code for attempted murder. As of Sunday night, all attackers remain at large, with police efforts underway to apprehend them.
