In a shocking incident in Nashik’s Income Tax Colony, a young Income Tax officer took his own life just a day before his wedding, allegedly due to emotional distress caused by the bride-to-be’s affair and threats of false dowry charges.
The deceased, 30-year-old Harekrishna Pandey from Uttar Pradesh, was working as an Income Tax officer in Nashik. He was scheduled to marry Mohini Pandey from Varanasi on Friday, April 18. However, during their engagement ceremony, held recently, Mohini was seen hugging her alleged boyfriend, Suresh Pandey, in public. This incident exposed the ongoing affair and deeply disturbed Harekrishna.
According to the complaint filed by Harekrishna's brother Hareram Pandey at the Ambad Police Station, Harekrishna confronted Mohini and asked her to end the relationship with Suresh if she wished to proceed with the marriage. However, Mohini reportedly refused and instead threatened to file a false dowry harassment case against Harekrishna and his family if he backed out of the wedding.
Unable to cope with the pressure and emotional blackmail, Harekrishna hanged himself in his residence in Income Tax Colony on the eve of the wedding. The incident has left his family and colleagues in deep shock.
Following the suicide, Ambad Police have registered a case against Mohini Pandey, her lover Suresh Pandey, and an associate named Munendra Pandey for abetment to suicide. All three accused are currently absconding. Police Inspector Rakesh Hande is leading the investigation.
This incident has sparked concern among Harekrishna’s colleagues in the Income Tax Department, who are mourning the loss of a young officer with a promising future.
