Even though there have been no elected representatives in the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) for nearly three years, the administrative work is running smoothly and effectively. Maharashtra Pollution Control Board Chairman Siddhesh Kadam praised the ongoing work under the leadership of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Manisha Khatri.During his visit to Nashik on Thursday, Kadam reviewed various operations of the NMC, especially those related to pollution control. He visited the Municipal Corporation office and reviewed the city's daily solid waste collection, its processing, and the real-time monitoring system. He expressed satisfaction with the systematic handling of these processes.
A special action plan to make the Godavari River and its tributaries pollution-free ahead of the upcoming Kumbh Mela was also presented during the visit. Kadam appreciated the planning and execution and said he was surprised by the efficient management despite the absence of public representatives.
Speaking to the media, Kadam indirectly supported the ongoing administrative rule, highlighting that real results matter more than just planning. “In other cities, proposals are made, but implementation is slow. Nashik stands out as actual work is being done and visible results are seen,” he said.
He also praised NMC for implementing simple yet impactful initiatives that even bigger corporations like Mumbai and Pune have not managed to carry out effectively. He added that other municipal corporations should follow Nashik’s example.
Kadam confirmed that the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and Nashik Municipal Corporation will continue to work together on pollution control and cleanliness drives in the future.
