A fraud of Rs 6 crore 33 lakh has come to light in Nashik, where fake documents were used to forcefully sell a plot. The victim was threatened and cheated on the false promise of repayment. A case has been registered at Indiranagar police station against 10 people in connection with the scam.
Jayesh Kachardas Bhandari, a resident of Chetnanagar, lodged the complaint. He was lured into a deal involving Shivtirth Dudh Dairy in Sakar (Tal. Igatpuri), run by Shivaji Phokane. Phokane claimed the dairy had a loan of Rs 6.82 crore from Syndicate Bank and offered to sell it due to financial trouble.
The suspects told Bhandari they would arrange a bank loan in his name. Trusting them, he helped process the loan. However, the suspects later took control of the dairy and forced Bhandari to accept a plot—worth Rs 6.33 crore—at half its value. They also allegedly created fake documents to sell the plot and threatened to kill him.
A case has been filed against Subhash, Shivarj, Sheela, Ravi, and Sandeep Phokane, along with Ravindra and Aarti Khatale, Gokul Kale, Sandeep Bhosale, and Vaishali Pawse for cheating, criminal conspiracy, and issuing death threats.
