Nashik Police’s Anti-Narcotics Squad has once again cracked down on drug peddling in the city. A drug dealer was arrested in the Hirwadi area near the MHADA Gharkul project under the jurisdiction of Panchavati Police Station. The police seized 8.5 grams of Mephedrone (MD) powder worth ₹42,500 from the accused.
Acting on confidential information received by Senior Police Inspector Sushila Kolhe from the Anti-Narcotics Squad, a police team led by Assistant Inspector Sachin Chaudhary and Vishal Patil conducted a raid on Monday (10th). Sub-Inspectors Ranjan Bendale, Sanjay Tajne, and Mangala Jagtap were also part of the operation.
The team set up a trap on the road leading from Hirwadi and caught the suspect, Sagar Sanjay Patil (31), a resident of Gajanan Park Colony. Upon searching him, they found the MD drug powder in his possession.
Police revealed that Sagar Patil has a history of criminal activities. A theft case has been registered against him at Panchavati Police Station, and he also has a robbery case against him at Sinnar Police Station.
Apart from the MD powder, other items were also seized, bringing the total value of confiscated goods to ₹72,500.
The police have been actively cracking down on drug networks, especially in areas near colleges and hostels, to prevent drug abuse among the youth. Authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to help curb the drug menace in the city.
