Nashik police took strict measures to ensure safety during New Year celebrations on December 31, with the government granting permission for festivities until 5 a.m. To prevent any untoward incidents, the police imposed blockades at 60 key locations across the city.

During the operation, 55 drunken drivers were caught and booked. They were kept in police custody overnight as part of the action against reckless driving. The crackdown was led by Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, with support from 2,500 police personnel and Home Guard officers patrolling the streets.

The checkpoints were strategically set up at areas like College Road, Gangapur Road, Anandvalli, City Center Mall Chowk, Trimbak Naka, Govindnagar Tunnel, Ranenagar, and Pathardi Phata. In addition to the blockades, a stop-and-search operation was conducted at 73 locations in the city to inspect vehicles and identify potential offenders.

The police also carried out a search operation to look for known criminals, ensuring that the city remained safe during the celebrations. These measures were part of the department's efforts to maintain law and order while allowing citizens to enjoy the New Year festivities responsibly.

Police have urged residents to cooperate in future operations and prioritize safety while celebrating.
