Nashik: Police Exhume Body of One-Year-Old Girl After Mother Alleges Foul Play by Father

 A tragic incident in Makhamalabad Shivara has taken a suspicious turn after a one-year-old girl, Vaishnavi Vikas Valvi, died by falling into a well while playing. Her father, Vikas Valvi, performed a private burial without informing the police, leading the child’s mother to suspect foul play and file a complaint. Following her complaint, the police, in the presence of government officials, exhumed the body on Wednesday (12th) for investigation.

On Monday (10th), Vaishnavi reportedly fell into a well on the farmland of a local farmer, Pingle. After an hour and a half of searching, her parents discovered her body floating in the water. Farm laborers helped retrieve her, and she was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

However, instead of informing the authorities, the child’s father buried her in an open space near a crematorium. Meanwhile, the child’s mother, who was in Nandgaon, was unaware of this. She later filed a complaint, alleging that her husband may have murdered their daughter due to ongoing domestic disputes.

After receiving the complaint, the Mhasrul police sought permission from the court to exhume the body for further examination. The court accepted the request and directed the tehsildar to oversee the process. On Wednesday, in the presence of police, the tehsildar, and local witnesses, Vaishnavi’s body was taken out and sent to the Government District Hospital for autopsy.

The child’s mother, who works as an agricultural laborer, had left her daughter behind due to disputes with her husband. When she returned and learned of the child’s death, she immediately called the emergency helpline (112) on Tuesday, accusing her husband of murder and claiming he threw the child into the well.

The police have registered the case as an "accidental death" for now, but they are awaiting the autopsy report to determine the cause of death. Senior Police Inspector Atul Dahake confirmed that further action will be taken based on the findings. The investigation is ongoing.
