Residents of Nashik city and nearby suburbs are facing frequent power outages despite paying their electricity bills on time. With the summer heat intensifying, power cuts during the day have added to people’s troubles. Citizens are questioning why they must stay in the dark even when load shedding has officially been stopped.
Electricity department officials claim that there is no load shedding at present. They say outages are due to technical issues, increased electricity demand, and pre-monsoon maintenance work. However, there is no fixed schedule for power cuts, leaving people frustrated and helpless.
The Ekalhare area in the district houses three power generation units, each with a capacity of 210 MW—generating a total of 630 MW. After fulfilling Nashik district’s needs, the remaining power is sent to Mumbai. Yet, both urban and rural areas in Nashik continue to experience random power cuts.
Monsoon makes things worse, with systems frequently failing even after mild rainfall. Sometimes, Mahavitaran officials cut supply as a precaution. Citizens are demanding a stronger, more reliable power system before the monsoon arrives.
“We pay our bills in full, yet we have to live without power regularly. Why should we suffer?” questioned residents, urging authorities to ensure uninterrupted electricity during all seasons.
