In a shocking incident in Nashik on Sunday, April 6, a 24-year-old man set himself on fire and then hugged his wife and mother-in-law, setting them ablaze as well, following a heated argument with his mother-in-law. The man, identified as Kedarnath Handore, was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His wife and mother-in-law are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital and are reported to be in critical condition.
Kedarnath Handore had married Snehal Shinde last year. However, due to ongoing disputes, Snehal had returned to her maternal home in Soneri. On Sunday around midnight, Kedarnath, along with his friends—Harish Dumbre, Krishna Thorat, Ganesh Thorat, and Vishal Tupsundar—visited Snehal’s home.

During the visit, Kedarnath got into a heated argument with Snehal and her mother, Anita Shinde. According to police, he and his friends even attempted to kidnap Snehal at knifepoint. In a fit of rage, Kedarnath then set himself on fire and hugged Snehal and Anita, setting them ablaze as well.
The horrific incident occurred around 1 am on Sunday. Kedarnath, who suffered 90–95% burns, was rushed to the district hospital, while Snehal and Anita were admitted to a private hospital in Nashik. Unfortunately, Kedarnath died during treatment on Monday afternoon. Snehal sustained 35% burns, while her mother Anita suffered 64% burns, police said.
After receiving information about the incident, Sinnar Police visited the hospital and recorded statements from the injured victims. A case has been registered against the deceased Kedarnath Handore and four of his friends at the Sinnar Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
