Nashik is experiencing a fresh wave of winter chill, with the city's minimum temperature dropping to 12.1°C on Thursday, making it the second coldest place in Maharashtra. Niphad, known for its grape cultivation, recorded the lowest temperature at 7.2°C.
Nashik's temperature has fallen by 4°C in the past three days. The maximum temperature stood at 31.7°C on Thursday. In Niphad, the minimum temperature was 14.2°C on Monday but plummeted to 7.2°C by Thursday, marking a significant drop of 7°C in just four days. The maximum temperature there was recorded at 31.8°C. A year ago, on the same date, Niphad had a minimum temperature of 8.4°C and a maximum of 31.4°C.
Grape farmers in the region closely monitor the weather as the harvest season is underway. While a minimum temperature above 12°C is ideal for maintaining grape sweetness, a dip below 7°C for several consecutive days could lead to cracks in the fruit.
IMD has predicted a gradual rise in temperature over the coming days, with the minimum expected to settle between 16°C and 17°C and the maximum reaching 34-35°C. Clear skies are likely to prevail in the city.
