Simhastha Kumbh 2026: Nashik Team Visits Prayagraj to Study Arrangements and Security Measures
A team of senior officers from Nashik, led by Divisional Revenue Commissioner Dr. Praveen Gedam, has left for Prayagraj to study the arrangements, security measures, and crowd management of the ongoing Kumbh Mela. The officials will inspect ghats, roads, parking facilities, and sanitation infrastructure to help in the preparation for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2026-27.
The team departed on Monday (17th) and will return on Thursday (19th) after a three-day study tour. The visit comes as part of a series of planning meetings held for Simhastha. Earlier this month, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, Iqbal Singh Chahal, visited Nashik and provided key recommendations. Similarly, Guardian Secretary Eknath Dawle had also reviewed Nashik’s preparations. Following their suggestions, officials have surveyed Trimbakeshwar and Nashik city and even planned an alternative route for managing crowds in Trimbakeshwar.
The delegation includes District Collector Jalaj Sharma, Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, Deputy Commissioner of Police Chandrakant Khandvi, and other department heads. The team will closely examine crowd control methods, bathing ghats, royal roads, river cleanliness, sanitation, toilets, parking, and road infrastructure used in Prayagraj, where nearly 50 crore devotees participated in the Kumbh Mela.
Additionally, discussions are ongoing about removing the concrete structure at Ramkund in Nashik, a crucial site for Kumbh rituals. The study tour aims to incorporate successful strategies from Prayagraj into Nashik’s Simhastha planning, ensuring better facilities, improved traffic management, and enhanced safety measures for the upcoming mega event.
