13 days later, curfew lifted in Lohardaga

The administration in Lohardaga district of Jharkhand on Thursday lifted curfew from the region after 13 days, since a pro-CAA rally was attacked by a particular community on January 23, that triggered violence in the district.

Ranchi, Feb 6 The administration in Lohardaga district of Jharkhand on Thursday lifted curfew from the region after 13 days, since a pro-CAA rally was attacked by a particular community on January 23, that triggered violence in the district.

The rioters had torched 85 vehicles and set more than 40 shops on fire. One of the pro-CAA supporters injured in the incident later died here during treatment.

According to Police, Neeraj Ram Prajapati, 40 died while undergoing treatment at Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) here on January 27.

He was injured in stone pelting during a pro-CAA rally in Lohardaga district.

His death has created panic in Lohardaga district. The curfew was extended to normalise the situation post the death of the CCA supporter.

Section 144 has been imposed in the district to maintain law and order. No one has been allowed to take out s procession or hold rallies without permission.

Due to the curfew bauxite mining and transportation were. Around 1,200 trucks ferry bauxite every day.

On January 12, another pro-CCA rally was attacked in Giridih district of the state.

Several people including policemen were injured during the rally.
