A Congress worker, who had been seen alongside party leader Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, was tragically found dead in a suitcase near the Sampla bus stand in Rohtak. The deceased, Himani, was also close to prominent figures within the Haryana Congress, including Bhupinder Hooda and Deepender Singh Hooda.

Amid a growing political controversy surrounding the incident, Himani’s mother, Savita, claimed that her daughter’s death was connected to her involvement with the party and elections. According to Savita, Himani had become disillusioned with the party. "The party and the election took her life," Savita said, adding that her daughter had made enemies due to her political ties. "These enemies could be from the party, or even her friends," she speculated.

Savita also revealed that Himani’s political prominence had caused jealousy among some individuals, which she believes led to her death. "She was gaining recognition, attending events with Rahul Gandhi, and was close to the Hooda family. This made some people uncomfortable," she said. The grieving mother also expressed her frustration that Congress leader Asha Hooda, wife of Deepender Hooda, did not answer her calls after her daughter’s tragic death.

In her emotional plea, Savita shared that Himani had been frustrated with the party in the days leading up to her death. "She wanted to find a job and stop working for the party," Savita stated. Having been with the Congress for a decade, Himani had recently even agreed to get married and was planning to pursue further studies in law.

Savita also recounted how the family had lived in fear, especially after the tragic loss of her elder son in 2011, for which they never received justice. To protect her remaining son, she had sent him to the BSF camp.

Savita made it clear that she would not perform her daughter’s last rites until justice was served. She expressed her disappointment that Asha Hooda had not responded to her desperate attempts to seek help after Himani’s death.
