Mehsana (Gujarat), Aug 1 Four Gujarati youths were arrested for entering the US illegally last week, sources said on Monday.

Following the incident, the Indian Embassy has asked the Mehsana police to investigate as to how the youths from the district managed to land in the US illegally.

"On information shared by the Indian Embassy, American customs have arrested four youths, while illegally entering America through the Quebec route from Canada. America's local court was shocked to find that four youths, though carrying IELTS certificates with 8 bands, were not able to answer questions asked in English. They were released on 10,000 US $ bond and these youths will be extradited to India," Mehsana's Special Operation Group Police Inspector Bhavesh Rathod told media.

The youths have been identified as: Dhruv Patel, Neel Patel, Urvish Patel and Savan Patel, all natives of Mehsana. They left India in the second week of July for Canada, for which they had student visas. From there, they took a boat to cross the Canada-American border through Quebec route, when they were caught by the American customs.

Now the police will question the agent who arranged for visas and IELTS certificates for them. They will also travel to the national capital and question the agent who helped in getting them the certificates. If the agents have forged documents and certificates they will be arrested, said the officer.
