Agusta Westland Chopper Scam Case: Supreme Court Grants Bail to British National Christian Michel
The Supreme Court on Tuesday, February 18, granted bail to alleged middleman Christian Michel, a British national who has been in custody for more than six years in the Rs 3,600 crore Agusta Westland Chopper Scam case investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The bail was heard by the apex court bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta noted that James had spent six years in jail while the investigation was still ongoing. The court ruled that he would be released on bail, subject to conditions set by the trial court.

The case involved the procurement of 12 VVIP helicopters from AgustaWestland. A British national was extradited from Dubai in December 20218 and arrested on arrival. He had moved the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court's September 25, 2024, order denying him bail.
