Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President of Himachal Pradesh, Rajeev Bindal, said that the All India Institute of Medical Science Bilaspur (AIIMS) is a brilliant institute that changes the image of the state. He also slammed the Congress Party for opposing the PET Scan facility.

He said, “All India Institute of Medical Science Bilaspur is a great institute that changes the picture and fortune of Himachal Pradesh... We must express our gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda for not only granting Himachal an AIIMS but also ensuring that it emerges as a state-of-the-art medical institution in record time.”

Further, he mentioned that JP Nadda pays a visit to the facility once every three to four months to inspect its functionalities. The central government has spent over 3000 crore over AIIMS there.

An important turning point in the region's medical capabilities has been reached with the official opening of the Nuclear Medicine Facility at AIIMS Bilaspur by J. P. Nadda. Modern equipment in this state-of-the-art facility includes a Low-Dose Therapy (LDT) Ward, PET/CT, SPECT/CT, and SPECT radio-pharmacy/hot lab.

He said that AIIMS, a place that treats cancer patients, is built by the government.

Further slamming the Congress party leaders who opposed this development, he said, “It is unfortunate that while AIIMS is working for the welfare of the people and providing life-saving treatment, Congress is deeply troubled by this progress. They are opposing even the PET scan facility, which is a boon for cancer patients. It seems Congress has developed an aversion to AIIMS itself. Their actions make us wonder if their ultimate goal is to shut down this institution altogether. This is why they are resorting to baseless propaganda against AIIMS Bilaspur.”

The centre will offer low-dose radionuclide therapy for patients with thyroid, prostate, neuro-endocrine, and liver cancers, as well as those with bone and joint pain, in addition to full diagnostic services. JP  Nadda said, "These services will be offered at significantly lower prices compared to the private sector, and they will be free of charge for patients who are enrolled in the PMJAY and Himcare insurance schemes, as well as those who are below the poverty line." The specialised ward will enable low-cost day care treatment for individuals with prostate cancer, thyroid cancer, and other low-risk illnesses.
