Bajrang Dal burns down banner announcing "Pakistani food festival" in Surat
Bajrang Dal activists attacked a hotel, expressing outrage over the organization of a Pakistani food festival in their country. A banner was put up outside the hotel. On it, it was written as Pakistani Food Festival. Therefore, Bajrang Dal activists marched on the concerned hotel and vandalized it. Jay Shriram's announcement was also given at this time. This has happened at a hotel in the Ring Road area of Surat, Gujarat.
The restaurant, 'Taste of India', had planned to organise the food festival between December 12-22. The 'Pakistani Food Festival' was also organized in it. A large banner was put up outside the restaurant to raise awareness. So, Bajrang Dal activists went to the hotel and burnt the banner. A senior Bajrang Dal official also claimed that the restaurant concerned had admitted its mistake.
"We will not use the word 'Pakistani' anymore in the food festival as it hurts the sentiments of some people. When we were using that word we felt that some people might not like it, but we did not know it would turn out like this...We are just serving cuisine which has nothing to do with Pakistan as such. The second name of Mughlai cuisine is Pakistani food," Mr Dawar said.
