In a chilling incident, a 50-year-old man, identified as Kaushal Singh, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Khagaria district of Bihar on Wednesday night. The murder took place in the Kaithi Tola locality of Chautham town while Singh was traveling on a two-wheeler with his wife. According to Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar, initial investigations suggest that a family dispute could be the motive behind the killing. The wife of the deceased, who was with him at the time of the attack, told the police that a man approached Singh, shot him at point-blank range, and fled the scene. Singh was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
Kaushal Singh, a former Panchayat Samiti member, was reportedly a distant relative of Panna Lal Singh Patel, the JD(U) MLA of Beldaur. Local sources also claimed that Singh had been associated with the JD(U) party's district unit, though attempts to get a comment from senior JD(U) leaders have so far been unsuccessful. The police have started a manhunt to capture the suspect(s) involved in the murder. The deceased’s wife has provided the authorities with the names of potential suspects, and police have launched further inquiries. " The initial probe suggests that this could be a case of a family dispute. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and a thorough investigation is underway," said SP Rakesh Kumar. As investigations continue, residents of Chautham town are left in shock, grappling with the brutal killing that has stirred tensions in the area.
