The accident occurred when the school van was parked to pick up a child. As the driver stepped out to assist the child in boarding the vehicle, a truck traveling at high speed crashed into the van.

At the time of the accident, there were around 15 to 16 children on board the van. While most of the children suffered minor injuries, two of them were seriously hurt and have been referred to Chhapra for further treatment.
