The Budget Session of Parliament starts on Friday and all eyes are on the Economic Survey for 2019-2020 which the government will release today. The session will commence with an address by President Ram Nath Kovind to the joint sitting of two Houses of Parliament. The government will present the Union Budget 2020-2021 on Saturday. The first phase of the session will conclude on February 11, while the second part of the session will begin from March 2 and end on April 3. Earlier, an all-party meeting called by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Thursday in Parliament ahead of the Budget Session. The government's Economic Survey pegs GDP or gross domestic product growth at 6-6.5 per cent in the next fiscal year, which will end in March 20201. Prepared by Chief Economic Advisor Krishnamurthy Subramanian and his team, the release of Economic Survey 2019-20 comes a day ahead of the presentation of the first full-year Union Budget of the Modi 2.0 administration. The first phase of the Budget session 2020 started today, and will be held through February 11.
