Chhattisgarh Accident: 5 Killed, 5 Injured as Car Carrying Devotees from Shiv Temple Collides with Truck in Surguja
Surguja, Chhattisgarh (February 26, 2025): Five people, including three minors, were killed and five others injured when an SUV collided with a truck in Chhattisgarh’s Surguja district on Wednesday.
The crash occurred around 1 p.m. near Vishunpur village under the Sitapur police station limits. The victims were returning to Revapur village after offering prayers at a Shiv temple in Kilkila for Mahashivratri. Their Bolero SUV collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
Four people died at the scene, including Rajkumar Agaria, 55, his daughter Anjali, 25, Suraj Agaria, 14, and a one-year-old boy named Mahi, police said. Six injured were rushed to Ambikapur Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Ayush, 12, dead on arrival. The remaining five are receiving treatment.
After the accident, locals set the truck on fire. The driver fled, abandoning the vehicle. Police have registered a case and are searching for him.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed grief over the tragedy and directed officials to provide medical assistance to the injured. He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the injured to recover soon.
