At least 20 wagons of a coal-laden goods train derailed early Tuesday morning in the Bilaspur railway division of Chhattisgarh, causing disruptions to passenger train services, according to railway officials. Although no casualties were reported, train operations on both the Up and Down lines of the Bilaspur-Katni section were severely affected.
A coal-laden freight train was heading to Katni from Bilaspur when 20 wagons derailed between Khongsara and Bhanwartank railway stations around 11.11 am, a public relations officer of the Railways said.

A team of officials from Bilaspur has been sent to the site, and efforts are ongoing to clear the track and restore train services, according to the official. The exact cause of the derailment will be determined after an investigation. The incident has led to the diversion of several passenger trains, including the Puri-Yog Nagri Rishikesh Utkal Express and the Durg-MCTM (Udhampur) Express, officials added.
