Congress Leader and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Alleges Government of Sabotaging Parliamentary Process

Congress MP from Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Saturday accused the central government of deliberately obstructing discussions in Parliament to avoid scrutiny. Speaking to the media after the Development Coordination and Monitoring Committees (Disha) meeting at the Wayanad Collectorate, Gandhi alleged that the ruling party was actively disrupting the democratic process.

"The government is not allowing discussions in Parliament. Over the last few sessions, I have observed that their strategy is to avoid debates by any means—whether by instigating issues they expect the opposition to protest against or by preventing the Leader of Opposition (Rahul Gandhi) from speaking. They are using various methods to suppress discussions," she stated. She further remarked that the government itself was now sabotaging parliamentary proceedings, a departure from the past when such accusations were typically leveled against the opposition.

"It is disheartening for us MPs to witness this. Earlier, the opposition was often blamed for disrupting Parliament, but now it is the government that is obstructing the democratic process. This is probably a first," she added.

Inauguration of Kattunayikka Unnathi Cultural Centre

In  Vadakkanad, Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra inaugurated the 50-acre Kattunayikka Unnathi Cultural Centre. Addressing the community, she focused on critical local issues, specifically the lack of drinking water and delays in the 12.5 km road project, pledging to advocate with the relevant central minister for its swift completion, despite its inclusion in the central government's list. She also voiced concern about the unfulfilled crash-guard iron rope fencing project, despite allocated funds, promising to petition the state government to fulfill the original demand. Gandhi acknowledged the need for a permanent community structure but recognized the government's financial constraints in funding it.
