COVID-19: Gujarat govt imposes night curfew in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara & Rajkot till March 31
The coronavirus infection level in the country is back to last year's December as it has soared to 1.96 from 1.55 per cent in a short interval. The cumulative tally of the cases has risen to 1,14,09,831 while the death toll has reached 1,58,856 in India.
In view of increasing COVID-19 cases, Gujarat government has imposed a night curfew in four metros-Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat & Rajkott from March 17 between 10 pm to 6 am.
The night curfew has been imposed in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat & Rajkot will be effective from the night of March 17 from 10 pm to 6 am, till March 31, stated the Gujarat Government order.
In addition, pre-night curfew system will be maintained in these four metros till March 16 from 12 pm to 6 am, read the order.
The rise in the number of Covid-19 cases, which had so far appeared confined to Maharashtra and Punjab, is now beginning to show up in several other states including Gujarat
On Monday, the state of Gujarat reported 890 new COVID-19 cases in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic.'Surat led with 262 new cases, followed by 209 in Ahmedabad, 97 in Vadodara and 95 in Rajkot. Other districts saw cases in the 18-30 range,' the official said.
