The Union Ministry of Health has termed the Delta Plus variant of the Corona as a variant of concern. At a press conference on Tuesday, the health secretary called the variant a 'variant of interest', but now the final press release mentions it as a 'variant of concern'.
The Delta Plus variant of the Corona, found in nine countries, including India, has raised concerns. So far 22 cases have been found in the country. Also, the central government has said it is keeping an eye on the Delta Plus variant.
The Centre has alerted and advised Maharashtra, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh regarding the ‘Delta Plus variant of SARS-CoV-2, currently a variant of concern (VOC), which has been found in some districts of these states.
According to the Ministry of Health, all the details of the Delta Plus variant are being collected. Also, Covishield and Covaxin have been found to be effective on the Delta Plus variant. Meanwhile, the delta variant responsible for the second wave of corona in the country is currently in 80 countries around the world, including India. The Delta Plus variant has spread in 9 countries, including India.
The Delta Plus variant of the Corona has been found in India, including the US, UK, Portugal, Switzerland, Japan, Poland, Nepal, China and Russia. According to the Ministry of Health, out of 22 cases of Delta Plus type in India, 16 cases are from Maharashtra. The remaining cases are in Kerala and Madhya Pradesh.
According to the Ministry of Health, the case of this variant seems small at the moment, but it could get bigger, so caution is being taken. Depending on how fast the coronavirus spreads and how dangerous it is, it is kept in different forms.
