COVID-19 Update: India reports 30,093 new COVID-19 cases, 374 deaths

India reported 30,093 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, as per the health ministry’s July 20 update. There has been less than one lakh new coronavirus cases for the last 42 days.

The number of Covid deaths have also gone below 400-mark. As many as 374 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, new recoveries at 45,254 in the same period, the July 20 update stated. 

Among states, Uttar Pradesh administered the most (cumulative) vaccine doses at 4.10 crore, followed by Maharashtra at 3.99 crore and Gujarat at 2.97 crore.

The active cases have now come down below 5 lakh. India now has 4,06,130 active cases as per the July 20 update. The active cases constitute 1.35 per cent of the total cases.

Kerala has the highest number of active cases at 1,25,535 in the country followed by Maharashtra at 1,06,809, Karnataka at 29,314, Tamil Nadu at 27,897 and Andhra Pradesh at 24,708.

Maharashtra reported the most 180 new deaths, as per the July 20 update, followed by Kerala (81), Odisha (66), Karnataka (36) and Tamil Nadu (29). 

Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli/Daman and Diu, Delhi, Jharkhand, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand did not report any deaths today.

The total recoveries in India now stand over 3,03,53,710 with the recovery rate at 97.32 percent, as per the health ministry’s July 20 update. 

Kerala recorded the most new recoveries at 13,613, followed by Maharashtra at 5,756, Andhra Pradesh at 3,290, Tamil Nadu at 2,743 and Odisha at 2,492

Total COVID-19 deaths in India now stand at 4,14,482 as per July 20 update. The mortality rate is now at 1.33 percent.

India commenced its COVID-19 vaccination drive on January 16 this year. Till date, 41,18,46,401 vaccine doses have been administered so far including 52,67,309 in the last 24 hours, under the nationwide vaccination drive.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 44,73,41,133 samples have been tested up to July 19 for Covid-19. Of these, 17,92,336 samples were tested on Monday.
