In significant development On Friday implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in the national capital is done by Delhi Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the central and Delhi governments is set to be signed on Saturday, officials said. In the first phase, approximately 2.5 lakh residents, including Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Below Poverty Line (BPL) cardholders, will be eligible for benefits under the scheme. Registration for the program will begin on April 10.
Authorities estimate that nearly one lakh people will be enrolled within the first month. The AB-PMJAY provides annual health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. With this move, Delhi joins several other states in offering the central government’s flagship health insurance program to its residents.
