Delhi Metro Update: Train Services Impacted on Red Line Due to Cable Theft

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Thursday, March 13, said that train services on the Red Line were impacted due to another incident of cable theft. Several trains were delayed between Rithala and Shaheed Sthal, said DMRC in a statement issued on X.

Due to capable theft, signalling issues have occurred, and trains have to be operated at restricted speeds. DMRC said efforts are made to repair the impacted section during non-peak hours during the day. 

“Services are impacted on the Red Line since morning due to another incident of cable theft. The inconvenience caused to the passengers due to such incidents of cable thefts is deeply regretted. DMRC is in touch with the law and order machinery to resolve such recurring issues. Attempts shall be made to repair the impacted section during the non-peak hours. However, in case that doesn’t materialise, the restoration work shall be taken up after the conclusion of passenger services tonight,” said DMRC in a post on the social media platform X. DMRC had first posted the update at 8:28am about the delay in services.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of Holi festival, Delhi Metro revised the time table for Friday, March 14, 2025. The first service will start at 2.30 pm as per the statement issued on X. “On the day of the ‘Holi festival, i.e.14th March, 2025 (Friday), Metro services will NOT be available till 2:30 PM on all Lines of the Delhi Metro including Airport Express Line,” the DMRC said.

The DMRC stated that the metro rain services will start at 2:30 PM from terminal stations on all Lines on 14th March and will continue normally thereafter.
